Anya Semenoff and Daniel Petty here. We are photographers, journalists, writers, adventurers, couch potatoes, Netflix-bingers, chocolate junkies, voracious readers.
We met in a newsroom copy room. Anya was a newly hired editorial assistant, prepping documents for an afternoon meeting; Dan was a summer digital news intern whose tenure at the newspaper had just been extended through the end of the year. The copy room, also home to employee mail boxes, gave Dan the perfect excuse to “randomly” bump into Anya as she collected fresh paper printouts, still warm from the copier.
That day in September 2009, launched the two of us on an unexpected path. Though our love story didn’t take shape for many months to come, the shared passion for storytelling and journalism we recognized in each other that day would provide the foundation for a friendship, business, and marriage.
We specialize in wedding and editorial photography. We come from a newsroom, and we carry the spirit of journalism we cultivated there into everything we photograph, from weddings to events and everything in between. We want to capture the real, unscripted moments. We want to bear witness and document the event fully. Beauty can be found in the in between, and that’s what we strive to capture.
Today, with four years of wedded life and six years of business to call our own, we are launching into a new chapter of A&D Photography. We have spent the past six years defining what we want to do with A&D. The photographs we most want to create, the people we hope to meet and collaborate with, the direction we want to go next. We want to bring you more inspiration, more behind-the-scenes, more insight into why we believe that capturing you with your best foot forward — whether that foot is clad in wedding shoes, polished-up leather boots, or a thrifted pair from Goodwill — is a goal worth dedicating every effort. Everyone has a story worth sharing. We would love to help you tell yours.
