Denver’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Wedding + The Pinnacle Club | Kara & Francois

Kara and François met in New York, where she was going to grad school at New York University, and he was running his own business.

Fast forward to August of this year, and Kara and and François wed at Denver’s mother church — the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the site where Pope John Paul II celebrates Mass in 1993 and where bishops and priests have been installed and ordained. François’s family flew in from Paris and other parts of the world.

Celebrating alongside them was the bride’s father, Hal, an ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church. He both walked his daughter down the aisle and later celebrated alongside the priest — a first for us as Catholic photographers.

Afterward, we ventured to City Park to take couples photos and find some despite and shade from the summer heat and sun. We then drove roughly 15 minutes to downtown Denver to The Pinnacle Club at the Grand Hyatt in Denver. There, guests mingled for a cocktail hour overlooking the expansive Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and the city’s downtown. As the sun set behind the mountains, the sky turned orange and the hills turned purple and blue, creating a stunning backdrop just as toasts and first dances began.
