The joy-filled smiles and laughs Nina and Chris showed through their wedding day was palpable to anyone who witnessed them — and visible with their every expression.
Throughout the day — from their nuptial wedding Mass at Risen Christ Catholic Church in Denver to their couples session at Cherry Creek State Park and their reception nearby — they were filled with delight and laughter, even amid rather frigid spring temperatures.
An intimate gathering of family and friends attended their wedding Mass on a Sunday in March at Risen Christ. Fr. Scott Bailey celebrated, talking about the bonds of love and sacrifice we’re called to as Catholics in the faith.
Once the Mass ended, we captured moments with family in front of the altar, and then we headed to Cherry Creek State Park for couples and bridal party photos. Temperatures hovered around freezing, but Nina and Chris were hardy troopers, probably owing to Nina’s upbringing in the upper midwest. We have a few spaces at Cherry Creek where we get a nice variety of pictures without much walking required. We swapped jackets when needed, and spent 45 minutes capturing their love for one another and excitement to begin their married life together.
Then we headed for a reception at 2 Penguins Bar and Grill nearby in Centennial, where guests mingled and shared stories — including two heartfelt speeches from her maid of honor and a longtime friend of the groom.
