Sarah and Alejandro reached out to us a few short weeks ago about photographing their wedding next year.
Both share a deep and abiding love for their Catholic faith. They’ll be married at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Centennial, Colorado, where Sarah’s mother and father were married, and where Sarah received first communion and was confirmed in the Catholic faith. As Catholic wedding photographers in Denver, it’s one of our favorite churches.
Before the 2022 wedding, Sarah and Alejandro wanted to trek down to Roxborough State Park in Denver for engagement photos in the late afternoon on a recent weekday — both had hiked the area before and loved the beautiful natural rock formations.
Anya and Sarah — unbeknownst to both of them before we met — actually ended up performing in Irish step dancing competitions when they were teenagers with the same teacher, but were just a few years apart. Sarah’s love for dance is one she shares with Alejandro, particularly Salsa dancing. We asked them to demonstrate their skills to us for a few photos, and it’s very clear that their first dance is going to be a showcase in their expert skills!
Fortunately, we had the park mostly to ourselves, and we hiked first over to the Lyons Overlook, which features a deck with stunning views of the red rocks that envelop the valley below. We later retreated back to some trails with overhanging branches and caught the last glimpses of sunset before we ended up at the Fountain Valley View, where the geologic formations are even more stunning as the sun is setting. It’s an unassuming trail near the Visitor’s Center that we hadn’t explored, and it was a perfect cap to a great evening of photography and fulfilling conversation.
